Sustaining Innovation and Opportunity.

In 2024, the Dele Akinsade Foundation proudly sponsored the fourth consecutive USTEM Competition at the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo. This annual event has become a cornerstone for STEM education in Ondo State, attracting even more participating schools and a broader range of inventive student projects.

The 2024 competition maintained its focus on practical, community-driven solutions. Students tackled issues such as renewable energy, waste management, and affordable health technologies, all while utilizing locally available materials and resources. The event encouraged collaboration, critical thinking, and hands-on experimentation, helping students see the real-world impact of STEM.

Finalists were invited to present their projects at a well-attended science fair, where they received feedback from university faculty, industry experts, and local leaders. Ondo Boys High School emerged as the winner of the 2024 edition with their innovative project on the preservation of perishable foods using waste orange peels. The team was awarded a grant to further develop their prototype and improve STEM infrastructure at their school, reinforcing the foundation’s commitment to long-term educational improvement.

Volume IV of the USTEM Competition demonstrated the Dele Akinsade Foundation’s ongoing dedication to nurturing young talent and promoting inclusive, high-quality STEM education. By providing students with opportunities to innovate and be recognized, the foundation continues to empower the next generation of problem-solvers and leaders in Ondo State.
